Activities

Arnold's Place is a great base for your holiday! Swimming, picnicking, sight-seeing, skiing, bike riding, taking a scenic/adventure drive.

The Glenelg River is perfect for all kinds of activities - with or without a fishing rod in hand. Follow the Glenelg River through the Lower Glenelg National Park. The river is navigable for about 60 kilometres by boat, further by canoe.

  • Check out the iconic shacks and boatsheds near the Nelson township or upstream near Donovan’s Landing

  • Further upstream, enjoy sightseeing in pristine wilderness

Skiers have their own designated zones, accessible from Simsons Landing

Elsewhere speed limits apply, making the river ideal for canoes and putt-putt boats.

There are picnic spots at designated landings along the river with picnic tables and BBQs provided - cast a line while the snags cook

You will find 3 launching ramps in the township and several more within a short drive of Arnold's Place

Nelson is also the closest town to Piccaninnie Ponds, best known of the cave diving and snorkelling sites in the Mt Gambier area. Ewens Ponds is a 20-minute drive away.
